What is this?
Clue connects to United Rentals, Sunbelt Rentals and EquipmentShare. When a connection is on, your rented machines come into Clue on their own. They show on the Rentals tab next to the rentals you add yourself.
Each rental company sends different information. This page compares them. Each company also has its own article with the full steps.
Who's this for?
- Equipment managers, see every rented machine from every rental company in one list.
- Rental coordinators, stop typing rental lines in by hand.
- Project managers, see which rented machines are on their jobs.
How to use it
Step 1: Filter by rental company
Go to Rentals and click Filters. Click Vendor, search for the rental company, and select it. You can select more than one.
Step 2: Check status and dates
Close the filter. The list now shows only rentals from those companies. Scroll right to see the Status, Vendor, Start Date and Projected End Date columns.
Step 3: Open a rental
Click a rental to open it. The Rental Assets step shows the machine, its rates and the rental period that came from the rental company.
The full details
- United Rentals: sends each rental line with the PO, contract number, dates, rates, make, model and serial number. Machines with United Rentals telematics also send location and engine hours.
- Sunbelt Rentals: sends the machines you have on rent with location, engine hours, idle hours and fuel. Sunbelt does not send the PO, dates or rates, so you complete each new rental.
- EquipmentShare: sends location, engine hours and fuel for the machines in your EquipmentShare account. If rental import is on for your company, it also sends each rental with the PO, dates, rates and project.
- SunState Equipment: a connection is also available. Ask your Clue team.
- Who connects it: your Clue team turns on each connection. You give them the login details that the rental company issues for its data connection.
- How often: Clue checks each rental company every hour.
- Currency: rates show in your company currency.
Tips
- Start with the rental company you use most. One connection already saves most of the typing.
- Use the Vendor filter to check one rental company at a time. It makes missing POs and dates easy to see.
- Read the article for your rental company. Each one handles new rentals and returns in its own way.
