Maintenance management
The mechanic work order app keeps the WOs your shop manager assigns to you in one queue. Each WO shows priority, equipment details, and operator notes. Push alerts flag new work.
Your queue: See every work order your manager assigns to you in one list
Work order details: View equipment, priority, status, shop, and operator notes before you start
Priority: See high, medium, and low priority work in your queue
Operator report: Read the operator's issue and notes for each work order
Repair status: Start the repair and track its current stage from one screen
Capture what you found, what you fixed, and what parts you used, all on your phone. Attach photos of worn components, add diagnosis notes, and close the WO when the job is done.
Findings: Log what you found in the WO
Repair: Log what you fixed and the parts you used
Photo notes: Add a worn-part photo. Clue uses AI to write the repair description. Review the text
Time and closeout: Log your time in the WO. Close it after you finish the job
Run pre-shift and post-shift inspection checklists on mobile. Mark pass/fail, add photos for flagged items, and submit. The results go straight to the equipment manager.
Inspection checks: Mark each item as pass or fail from your phone
Flagged photos: Attach photos to flagged items for the equipment manager
Meter reading: Log equipment hours with the same inspection record
Repair link: Open the linked work order or export the PDF report
Look up parts, check shop stock, and request several parts from the WO on your phone. Clue applies the latest unit cost when you use a part. Each cost stays with the work order.
Parts request: Select several parts and add them to the work order
Stock location: See where each part is stored and what is on hand
Part source: See whether a part comes from inventory or a vendor
Order status: Follow each part from requested to ordered to received
Repair cost: Keep part quantities and costs tied to the work order
Before you start a repair, check the equipment repair history. Each past WO lists the repair, date, and cost. See whether the issue repeats or appears for the first time.
Repair history: Review past work orders for the machine before starting
Work source: See whether service began from maintenance, a fault, or an inspection
Repair timeline: Track each work order from creation through completion
Audit trail: View the mechanic, labor, parts, and time stamps for each update
For equipment loaded on the phone, mechanics can run inspections, add notes and photos, file breakdown reports, update equipment hours, and clock in or out. The app saves this work and sends it when the phone has signal.
Inspections: Save drafts with notes and photos for equipment loaded on the phone
Breakdown reports: File reports in the field
Equipment hours: Save hour updates on the phone
Shift time: Clock in and out. The app sends saved work when the phone has signal

Common questions
What can mechanics do in the Clue app?
Mechanics can view and complete work orders, log labor and parts, attach photos, run inspection checklists, access machine repair history, and submit completed jobs, all from iOS or Android.
Can mechanics request parts directly in Clue?
Mechanics can request several parts from the WO on their phone. They see stock and each part's storage location. They track each part from requested to ordered to received. The shop manager can approve each request.
Who assigns work orders to mechanics?
The shop manager or equipment manager assigns work orders. Mechanics see their queue in priority order. The shop manager sees each mechanic's workload on a drag-and-drop board and can reassign work.
Do operators submit repair requests through Clue too?
Yes. Operators use the same Clue app to submit breakdown reports and repair requests from the field. These flow into the shop's WO queue automatically.
Can mechanics save frequently used work orders for faster access?
Yes. Mechanics can mark work orders as favorites in the Clue app so the jobs they work on most often are always quick to find, cutting down time spent navigating the queue every shift.
Can mechanics log their hours directly inside a work order?
Mechanics log time inside the work order. The hours link to the WO. Labor cost follows those hours. Managers review and approve timecards before export.
Does the Clue app work without the internet on the job site?
Yes. The app saves inspections with notes and photos for equipment loaded on the phone, breakdown reports, equipment hour updates, and clock-ins or clock-outs. It sends this work when the phone has signal again. Work orders and parts logs update when the phone has signal.
Can Clue write a repair description from a photo?
Clue can write a repair description from a photo. A mechanic takes a photo of a worn part or damaged equipment. Clue uses AI to read the image and draft the text. The mechanic reviews the text before saving it. The process gives workers who find write-ups slow a faster way to report repairs.
What alerts mechanics to new work orders?
Push notifications alert mechanics to new work orders. The shop manager assigns or reassigns work on a drag-and-drop board. A counter at the top shows WOs that need a mechanic. The work order list shows each scheduled start and end date.
What happens when equipment sends fault codes?
Clue alerts fleet managers and mechanics when equipment reports a code. Each work order shows whether service began with maintenance, a fault, or an inspection. When a mechanic tries to dismiss a code with an open work order, Clue shows a warning.
Can mechanics order parts from a vendor inside the WO?
Mechanics can order parts through Gearflow inside the WO. Gearflow is a construction parts marketplace. The WO shows whether each part came from inventory or a vendor. Mechanics follow each part on the same work order from requested to ordered to received.
What happens when a mechanic pauses an inspection?
Clue saves the inspection as a draft. The mechanic can resume the draft at the same point after another task needs their time. The same draft keeps their place during a signal loss. When the mechanic returns, Clue opens the inspection at the same step.
