Understanding Fault Codes

Overview

Fault codes are diagnostic messages from your equipment's telematics system that alert you to potential issues requiring attention.

Fault Codes Dashboard

Navigate to Maintenance > Fault Codes to view active fault codes across your fleet.

Severity Summary Cards

Cards at the top show fault codes by severity:

  • Critical (Red) - Equipment should stop operating immediately
  • Monitor (Yellow) - Keep an eye on the issue, schedule service soon
  • Minor (Blue) - Low priority, address when convenient
  • Unknown - Unrecognized fault code requiring review

Click any card to filter the table by that severity level.

Header Actions

  • Search - Find fault codes by asset name or code
  • Date Filter - Filter by date range
  • Filters - Additional filtering options
  • Share - Share the current view
  • Download - Export to Excel (.xls)
  • Dismiss All - Clear resolved fault codes

Fault Codes Table

The table shows:

  • Asset Name - Equipment with the fault
  • Serial Number - Equipment serial number
  • Make - Equipment manufacturer
  • Model - Equipment model
  • Current Project - Where the asset is assigned
  • Total Engine Hours - Cumulative engine hours

Taking Action

Click on any fault code row to see details. You can:

  • View the full fault code description
  • Create a work order directly from the fault code
  • Dismiss the fault code if it's been addressed

Best Practices

  • Review critical faults daily
  • Create work orders for persistent monitor faults
  • Use the date filter to see historical trends
  • Export data for maintenance planning meetings
