What’s New

You can now see which users and operators have been linked to any asset — right alongside its project history. The Assignment History panel has a new Users tab and a Both tab that merges user and project timelines into a single view, sorted by date. Finding out who was operating an excavator last week is now just two clicks away.

Key Benefits

  • Full operator history at your fingertips — See every user who has been linked to an asset, with dates, job titles, and current status badges.
  • Merged timeline for complete visibility — The “Both” tab combines project assignments and user assignments into one chronological view, so you never have to cross-reference two lists.
  • Instant “who’s on this machine right now?” — Green “Current Person” and “Current Project” badges let you spot active assignments at a glance.

Where to Find It

Navigation: Asset Directory > Select an asset > “...” menu (top right) > Assignment History

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Open the Asset Directory

Go to Asset Directory from the main navigation menu. You will see a list of all your assets.

Step 2: Select an Asset

Find the asset you want to review and click on it to open its details page. Use the search bar or filters to find your asset quickly by name, number, or category.

Step 3: Open Assignment History

In the asset details view, click the “...” (three dots) menu in the top-right corner. Select “Assignment History” from the dropdown.

A panel opens showing the assignment history. At the top, you will see three tabs: Projects, Users, and Both.

Step 4: Choose Your View

  • Projects tab — Project assignments only: which projects this asset was assigned to, with date ranges. Use when you need to know “What projects has this truck been on?”
  • Users tab — User/operator assignments only: which people were linked to this asset, with job titles and date ranges. Use when you need to know “Who was operating this excavator last Tuesday?”
  • Both tab — A merged timeline of projects and users together, sorted by date (newest first). Use when you need “the full history of this asset.”

Step 5: Read the Timeline

Each entry in the history shows:

For user entries:

  • A blue person icon
  • The user’s name and job title
  • The date range they were linked to the asset
  • A green “Current Person” badge if they are currently linked

For project entries:

  • A colored folder icon (green for current, orange for past)
  • The project number and name
  • The date range the asset was assigned
  • A green “Current Project” badge if the asset is currently assigned there

Understanding the Badges

  • Current Person (green) — This user is currently linked to the asset.
  • Current Project (green) — The asset is currently assigned to this project.

If no green badge appears, the asset has no active user or project assignment at the moment.

Common Scenarios

Who was operating this excavator last Tuesday?

Open the asset in the Asset Directory, go to the “...” menu > Assignment History, click the Users tab, and look through the list for the user entry whose date range covers that day.

Give me the full history of this asset

Open the asset’s Assignment History and click the Both tab. The merged timeline shows user and project entries interleaved by date, giving you a single chronological record.

Who is currently assigned to this machine?

Open the asset’s Assignment History, click the Users tab (or Both tab), and look for the entry with the green “Current Person” badge at the top of the list.

Troubleshooting

  • I don’t see the Users tab: Make sure your CLUE app is updated to the latest version. If you still don’t see the tabs, contact your CLUE administrator — your organization may need to enable this feature.
  • The Users tab is empty: No users have been linked to this asset yet. User assignments are recorded going forward — historical data before the feature was enabled may not appear.
  • I can’t find Assignment History: Open the asset details page first, then click the “...” (three dots) menu in the top-right corner. Assignment History is available from the individual asset view, not from the main Asset Directory list.

FAQ

  • Does this replace the old Assignment History? No. The existing project assignment history is still there under the Projects tab. The Users and Both tabs are additions.
  • Can I edit or remove an assignment from the history? No. The Assignment History is a read-only record. To change current assignments, use the standard asset assignment workflows.
  • How far back does the user history go? User history is recorded from the time this feature was enabled for your organization.
  • Is this available on mobile? This feature is currently available on the web app. Mobile availability may be added in a future update.
  • Is Assignment History available in other languages? Yes — English, Spanish (LATAM), French, and Portuguese. The language follows your CLUE app language setting.
