What is this?
Clue connects to your GPS and telematics providers and pulls in live data: location, engine hours, odometer, fault codes, idle time, fuel consumption. All of it shows up on your assets automatically. No manual data entry. No checking three different apps to find a machine.
Supported integrations
Clue has built-in connectors for major telematics providers. No custom scripts. No CSV transfers. The data flows automatically.
- Samsara - Location, engine hours, odometer, fault codes (DTC/J1939), DVIR inspections, fuel, idle time
- Tenna - Location, engine hours, fault codes, utilization data
- John Deere (JDLink) - Location, hours, fault codes for Deere equipment
- CAT (Product Link) - Location, hours, fault codes for Caterpillar equipment
- Komatsu (KOMTRAX) - Location, hours, fuel data
- And many more - Volvo, Hitachi, CASE, Trimble, Geotab, CalAmp, and others
What the data powers
- Track Everything map. See every asset on a live map with last-known position, speed, and status.
- Automatic meter readings. Engine hours and odometer update from telematics. No manual reads needed.
- Fault code alerts. Fault codes flow from the OEM and trigger the rules engine for auto-dismiss, severity override, or work order creation.
- PM triggers. Hours and miles from telematics drive your preventive maintenance schedules.
- Utilization reports. Idle time, operating hours, and fuel data feed into utilization analytics.
- Geofence alerts. Know when equipment enters or leaves a jobsite.
The full details
- Sync frequency: Varies by provider. Most update every 5-15 minutes for location, hourly for meter readings.
- No extra hardware. Clue reads from your existing telematics devices. If Samsara or Tenna is already installed, Clue uses that data.
- Multiple sources per asset. If one machine has both Samsara and CAT Product Link, Clue merges the data using de-duplication.
- Setup: Your Clue admin connects the telematics account. Assets match automatically by VIN or equipment number.
Tips
- Use Samsara for on-road, OEM links for off-road. Most contractors use Samsara for trucks and the OEM's built-in telematics for heavy iron.
- Check the Track Everything map when something seems off. If hours are not updating or location is stale, the telematics device might be offline.
- Fault codes from telematics drive your rules engine. Set up fault code rules for the codes that matter most. Let the rest get logged silently.
