Overview

Link timecard entries to work orders to track labor costs per repair. This connection enables accurate maintenance cost reporting and mechanic productivity analysis.

Adding Time from Work Order Detail

Step 1: Open a work order from MAINTENANCE → Work Orders.

Step 2: Navigate to the Labor/Time section.

Step 3: Click "Add Time" or "Log Hours".

Step 4: Enter:

  • Mechanic name
  • Hours worked
  • Date of work
  • Notes (optional)

Step 5: Save the time entry.

Linking Existing Timecards

If time was already logged in Timecards:

  1. Open the timecard entry
  2. Find the Work Order field
  3. Search and select the appropriate work order
  4. Save to link them

Viewing Labor on Work Orders

Once linked, the work order shows:

  • Total hours spent
  • Labor cost (if rates are configured)
  • Who worked on it
  • When work was performed

  • Cost tracking - See true repair costs including labor
  • Productivity - Measure time per repair type
  • Billing - Support customer billing if applicable
  • Analysis - Identify high-labor assets

Tips

  • Log time daily to ensure accuracy
  • Include travel time if it's part of the job
  • Use notes to explain unusual time amounts
