What is MID 61:

MID 61 refers to an issue with the Fuel Pressure Sensor Circuit. The ECM detects an abnormal signal from the sensor, which could lead to incorrect fuel pressure readings and affect fuel delivery to the engine.

Why This Happens:

  • Faulty fuel pressure sensor.
  • Shorted or damaged wiring in the sensor circuit.
  • Loose or corroded sensor connectors.
  • Low fuel pressure caused by a malfunctioning fuel pump.
  • ECM misinterpreting the sensor’s signal.

How to Fix It:

  1. Inspect the fuel pressure sensor and wiring for damage.
  2. Test the sensor’s voltage and resistance to verify proper functionality.
  3. Check connectors for cleanliness and tightness.
  4. Replace the faulty sensor if necessary.
  5. Inspect the fuel system for low pressure or malfunctioning fuel pumps.

How to Avoid It Before It Happens:

  • Regularly inspect the fuel pressure sensor and wiring.
  • Perform routine fuel system maintenance.
  • Keep connectors clean and corrosion-free.
  • Perform diagnostic checks to monitor fuel pressure.
  • Clue’s Fuel Management services proactively monitor fuel systems to detect issues before they affect engine operation.
