Why it matters
It sets the schedule, and it tells you what is due right now.
In this 45-minute Clue Thursday, Tim Shald and Nic Ruiz build a PM plan from an empty screen and then run it. You'll see how to choose the assets it covers, set intervals on hours, miles, and dates, attach checklists, read PM status across the fleet, turn a due service into a work order, and reset it once the work is done.
A practical walkthrough of Preventive Maintenance, from building the plan to resetting a completed service.
Start a new plan, name it, describe it. Copy an existing plan when the new one is close to something you already run.
Assign the plan by asset type, product class, make, model, or individual assets. Exclude rental assets and anything that should sit outside the plan.
Add each service and set its interval. Engine hours, odometer, calendar date, or whichever comes first. Set how far ahead a service shows as upcoming. Attach the PM checklist or inspection. Set a service to repeat every few times another service is performed.
Good standing, upcoming, and overdue. Current usage, usage remaining, and the projected due date based on recent usage. Filter by plan, service, shop, crew, or geofence, and see the same status on the map.
Create a work order from a due service. Add services to a work order that is already open. Combine several due services into one. Or let Clue create it for you.
Reset the service once the work is done. Review usage at the last reset, who reset it, and the full history. Correct a reset that should not have happened.
Bring questions about Preventive Maintenance and how your team runs it in Clue.
Maintenance managers, shop supervisors, fleet managers, equipment managers, and anyone responsible for keeping services on schedule.
